In an inexplicable move, Apple's latest iteration of iTunes (version 6.0.5.2) refuses to install itself into any x64 system whether it is XP or Vista. The Apple message boards are positively lit up! The previous version installed just fine, but is, of course, no longer available at Apple's download web site. No amount of "compatibility shimming" will get this one fixed, either. It isn't that Windows won't accept it, it's that iTunes just plain won't go in.
Who could have seen it coming? I mean, who would have thought that graphics designers and other forward thinking, early adopters would ever own an x64 O/S, let alone an iPod...
Now where did I see that hack for iPods and Urge...
